Tagliamento Boat Trip

Day 4

Canussio – Latisana

Tagliamento Boat Trip | Day 4

Fraforeano – Latisana

Distance 12 km

sea miles Tagliamento

Departure Day

The next morning we just had to drive for 2km and reached the final obstacle, the construction site of the motorway bridge A4 – we landed on the left side to inspect the situation. A new bridge is being built in front of the existing motorway bridge. We had to carry our boat for the last time…

  • Check the current situation. We landed on the right side of the Tagliamento, carried the boat over the first artificial dam and drove thru the bridge.

  • Be careful while driving through the bridge, there might be reinforcing steel from the construction site (May 2018).

Construction stage at end of Tagliamento River

Soon we reached the outskirts of Latisana, shortly before reaching the artificial concrete dam, is a clearing where you can land your boat. We did it….

Paddling on the Tagliamento

What a great adventure, we will be back for sure.

Amazing! I am thinking about doing this trip soon (June timeframe). I plan on doing it in a kayak, and my only question is..how did you get back to your starting location? Did you Hitch Hike, or is there a bus you can catch?

      Nathan!

Yes, I love your plan! The Tagliamento is such a beautiful, surreal place.

As for all of our boat trips, we only use public transportation. We think Latisana is the perfect spot to stop, as it has a railway station and is the place where the channeled, not so beautiful part starts. The train station is just a short walk from the Tagliamento. (We did not go back to the starting point, as there was no car waiting for us, but you could if you wanted to.)

Before you go, make sure to check the water levels (as described in Day 1) to see if there is still enough water to be passable.

Have tons of fun! I would love to see some pics :))
      Safe travels, Bella
